"... (Scheirl) uses comic and pop art elements, and informal, painterly open, and partly also monochromous structures. He makes use of writings as well as pictograms and objects that all deal very directly with sexually connoted obsessions: the golden ball, the egg, labia, sperm, the gut, feces, the uterus, the penis, fountains of sperms or blood, and again and again the dildo. These prosthesis-cum-body-parts have become independent and are moving or floating through the image where Scheirl confronts them with the optical, the eye, projection, cinema."

"... (Scheirl) verwendet Comic- und Pop Art-Elemente ebenso wie informelle, malerisch offene, teilweise auch monochrome Strukturen. Er setzt die Schrift ebenso ein wie Piktogramme und Objekte, die jeweils sehr direkt von sexuell konnotierten Obsessionen handeln: der goldene Ball, das Ei, Schamlippen, Spermien, der Darm, die Kotwurst, der Uterus, der Penis, Fontänen von Sperma oder Blut und immer wieder der Dildo. Diese prothesenhaften, verselbständigten Körperteile, die durch das Bild wandern oder schweben, verknüpft Scheirl mit dem Optischen, dem Auge, dem Blick, der Projektion, dem Kino."

"When disciplines, genres and subjects merge into each other, affect and infect each other, the notion of work seems to be transformed, mutated into a membrane, a filter for heterogeneous transitions. Not infrequently, the statics of the mises-en-scènes relies on construction-planks, on quotations and montages that protect the production process against the final result, and rather count on the traces of the interventions than on the hope for eternity. What appears manifest is only an 'under construction', already decrepit the norm for the scandalous."

Nicht selten verlässt sich die Statik der Inszenierungen auf Baulatten, auf Zitate und Montagen, die den Produktionsprozess vor dem finalen Ergebnis schützen, sich auf die Spuren der Interventionen eher verlassen als auf die Hoffnung auf Ewigkeit. Manifest erscheint nur ein „under construction“, schon baufällig die Norm fürs Skandalöse."
